Property Mediation.

“Dialogue is the most effective way of resolving conflict.”
— Tenzin Gyatso, The 14th Dalai Lama

The Mediation Group also offers mediation to help negotiate your property settlement. We believe that having the ability and option to negotiate your own property agreement is the optimal way to finalise the assets and liabilities. The benefits of property mediation include a reduction in the cost of involving lawyers and court processes. It can also be a faster process and you have more control of the process.

Generally speaking there is also less emotional impact due to the reduction in time and ability to be involved in the decision making. A property agreement is a document that is written up showing how your property will be divided up.

Property of a relationship includes all assets and liabilities (held by you and your former partner and under your own or your former partner’s control).

Assets include:

  • Family home
  • Holiday Home
  • Cars/Boats
  • Household items
  • Personal items
  • A Business
  • Superannuation
  • Shares in extended family business
  • Investment property held under family trust

Liabilities include:

  • Credit cards
  • Mortgage debts

Our property mediation guide below provides you with more information you may require to assist with your mediation and settlement. Please also seek legal and financial advice prior to your mediation.

Our guide does not replace the need for additional advice.
